Background:BALB/c
Genotype: Homozygous
Mouse Status: Homozygous knockout mice are developmentally normal and fertile
Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is an essential antibody secreted by B lymphocytes which is the first antibody expressed on the membrane of developing cells. Immature B cells begin to express mIgM, but if they bind to antigens, they will produce a negative response, changing B cells into a suppressed state and unable to continue to differentiate into mature B cells, which results in autoimmune tolerance. Ighm KO homozygous mice lack mature B cells, thus providing this mechanism of autoimmune tolerance.
• Ighm expression
Figure 1. Ighm expression in peripheral blood, spleen and bone marrow cells of Ighm-KO homozygous mice
The results showed that Ighm expression was not detected in peripheral blood, spleen and bone marrow cells of Ighm-KO homozygous mice.
