The insulin tolerance test (ITT) is commonly used in metabolic studies to assess the speed and ability of the body to consume glucose after insulin administration, to determine the sensitivity of insulin receptors and the insulin resistance status of mice. It is usually used in determining metabolic disorders in mice, insulin resistance, and is also related to the pituitary-corticosteroid signaling.
Procedure: After fasting for 6 hours, the mice were injected with insulin solution (ITT) into the intraperitoneal cavity. The blood glucose value of each mouse is measured at 0-min, 15-min, 30-min, 60-min, and 120-min time points. The experimental data is expressed as the mean±SEM (standard error of the mean) of the average blood glucose value. The data was analyzed by SPSS 18.0 and EXCEL; with statistical significance difference (p<0.05).

The glucose tolerance test (GTT) is commonly used in metabolic studies to assess the speed and ability of the body to consume sugar after glucose administration, in order to determine the presence of glucose metabolism disorders (GMD) in mice.
Procedure: After fasting for 16 hours, either Intragastric peritoneal glucose tolerance test (IGGTT) or oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is administered to the mice. The blood glucose value of each mouse is measured at 0-min, 15-min, 30-min, 60-min, and 120-min time points with blood glucose value recorded. The experimental data is expressed as the mean±SEM (standard error of the mean) of the average blood glucose value. The data was analyzed by SPSS 18.0 and EXCEL; with statistical significance difference (p<0.05).
